In one of the more horrifying developments in our 21^st century politics, nearly 40% of Americans now say they favor some form of socialism. The standard-bearer for these people is current leader of the Democrat Party in the House of Representatives, the dimwitted 30-year-old former bartender Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

Ocasio-Cortez has sucked all the oxygen out of the room in Washington, DC and thanks to her army of woke Twitter followers, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has caved to mob demands and impeached President Donald Trump.

I have a problem with the characterization that the media and even Ocasio-Cortez herself are making about her political ideology: Why is everyone still insisting that she is a socialist? None of the policies that she is advocating are the least bit socialist.

Don’t take anything you’re about to read as a defense of socialism. My point is that Ocasio-Cortez’s policies are far more murderous and dangerous to a free people than even socialism would be.

Take her ‘Green New Deal,’ for example. Nothing in the deal would do anything for the environment. She advocates for things like banning air travel and cow farts. Socialists would never call for banning air travel – they’d simply call for all of the airlines to be taken over and run by the government.

Imagine if your only option for air travel is as crappy as Delta, and you can understand how socialism would impact that area of the economy.

Socialism calls for seizing the means of production. We see this in action in places like Venezuela, where the government seizes control, for example, of all of the oil rigs owned by private companies, or all of the farms owned by families. Then, the socialist ruling party appoints its own cronies to run these businesses.

You end up with clueless but connected people like Hunter Biden running your energy companies, or people who have no idea how to grow food suddenly being in charge of a farm.

Inevitably, socialism then leads to energy companies that can produce no energy, oil companies that can’t figure out how to suck oil out of the ground, “farmers” who can’t grow anything and so on. The result is that the lights go out and you have to break into the local zoo to feed your family.

Socialism is horrifying, but at least there’s a chance that your grandchildren would be able to outlive the regime until it gets replaced with something different (most socialist regimes only last until around the time they hit the 70-year mark).

Under the vision of “socialism” that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and most of the modern “socialists” are pushing, you will never even get the opportunity to learn what a zebra steak tastes like.

AOC and her ilk are not calling for the means of production to be seized by government. They’re calling for everything that has currently been produced to be seized, and then be redistributed by government to non-producers.

The basis for who gets seized from and who gets redistributed to is based solely on skin color.

The only way AOC’s vision of socialism would work, of course, is if government comes along and kills anyone and everyone who protests having their life’s worth of production taken away. If you have managed to procure any wealth over the course of your life that you hope to one day pass on to your heirs, too bad. The property you own, the stocks and bonds, cash, gold, et cetera gets taken away from you at gunpoint. You don’t deserve it because you’re an evil capitalist.

The fact that you even have those things is proof that you must have stolen them from a poor, uneducated person of a different skin color in an urban blue disaster zone like Baltimore or AOC’s congressional district in New York.

At least you would have a fighting chance under socialism, or a little bit of time to figure out how to game the system to your own benefit. Under AOC’s rulership, if you’re the wrong color, you’ll be purged from the get-go if you resist.

Her vision, and the vision of many people who share the same ideology, would involve mass murder and theft based entirely on skin color. I don’t know what to call Ocasio-Cortez’s political beliefs, but this is not “socialism.” It’s something far worse, and we need to tell people that.
